A Roman Holiday in the Highlands

When the rustic charm of the New South Wales Southern Highlands meets the vibrant, sun-drenched spirit of the Italian coast, something truly magical happens. On New Year’s Eve, Alba House in Robertson became the stage for an unforgettable al fresco celebration that redefined summer hosting.

Styled to perfection by the creative visionaries at Soiree Soiree, the event - aptly titled A’Tavola - was a masterclass in the art of the Italian table.

The Vision: Effortless Abbondanza

The brief was simple yet evocative: an afternoon that felt like a slow, sun-drenched lunch in a Mediterranean garden. To achieve this, the team at Soiree Soiree leaned into the concept of Abbondanza (abundance).

Instead of traditional floral arrangements, the long wooden tables were brought to life with edible decor. Piles of vibrant Roma tomatoes, baskets of zesty lemons, and scattered pasta created a sensory experience that was as visual as it was inviting.

The Table: Capri Meets Les Classiques

To ground the vivid colours of the produce, the table was set with a curated selection of No. 22 Home staples. The combination of our two most-loved collections created a look that was both refined and deeply organic.

A Masterclass in Summer Hosting

Under a canopy of festoon lights and ancient trees, the A’Tavola event reminded us that the best gatherings are those that feel effortless. By using high-quality tableware as a foundation and letting seasonal produce provide the colour, the focus remains where it should be: on the food, the wine, and the company.

As we move through the rest of the Australian summer, we hope this Robertson escape serves as inspiration for your own garden gatherings.
